Game Designer and Certified Scrum Master
I am from Fort Worth Texas. I am currently a Game Design graduate student in Cohort 29 at Southern Methodist University Guildhall. In 2019 I graduated with a Bachelor's in Science Degree in Game Design at Champlain College. Champlain College is located in Burlington Vermont (and I spent a little time at the campus abroad in Montreal Canada). I grew up playing games on my Nintendo GameCube and going to tech camps. From 2015 to 2017 I was an instructor at iD Tech teaching kids and teens how to program and make games. In the winter and spring of 2018 I was a Game Design/Game Production intern at Iron Belly Studios in Montreal Canada. Just one month after graduating college in 2019 I moved to Bellevue, Washington to work at Bungie as a Quality Assurance Tester. I have a passion to inspire others and my goal as a designer is to put a smile on a players face through my unique systems and mechanics!
I have a huge appreciation for Quality Assurance Testing, as it helps games become well polished. Breaking games is fun, because it is a learning experience, especially if it is your own. I am currently 1st all time for hours as a developer at Champlain's QA Lab in the 15 year history of the Game Studio. I finished at over 125 hours worth of Developer QA!
I am a movie theater fanatic and a good portion of my creative process with games can be attributed to watching moves! If I am ever stuck and need to think about something I will usually go to a theater to watch a film in a different way to get ideas! (Looking at storytelling through prop design in Now You See Me is my favorite example of this.)
Here are some of my favorite movies in no particular order:
1. The Martian
2. Now You See Me
3. Kingsman the Secret Service
4. Kubo and the Two Strings
5. Power Rangers (2017)
6. Mad Max: Fury Road
7. Nacho Libre
I started a goal a while back to finish as many games (both new and in my backlog) as possible each year! This is to keep up with trends, and to truly appreciate what everyone does in my industry. As a designer I feel like you can never play enough games, because playing a game is half of the fun about making a game. I especially try to play games that my friends have worked on. Here are some stats!
